Walls and Toilets

From what I have seen of Beijing, they love walls.  There are walls around everything. Large sturdy walls, around gardens, palaces, temples, homes in the Hutong areas the Great Wall  and so on. They like to enclose things in a nice safe wall…

…One exception, their toilets. They seem not to need walls in these public facilities. Not even a door from shutting the passers by in the street out. Some of the squat toilets haven’t got even small walls dividing them at all!  My daughter found this mortifing when she was desperate for the toilet and found the whole toilets worth of women firmly staring at her as she went to do a wee!
