Not at a Literary Festival !

My weekend was a busy one, I ran an event to open the Wolverhampton literary festival on Friday, it was a huge success. Lots of amazing performers and a wonderful large audience.

I also ran the closing festival, which I ran with a different formula. The idea was to showcase four acts, here is the beginning of the trouble.

The venue was lovely at the art gallery, the crowd arrived, two of the acts turned up and the event started well

The third act was delayed but wait for it. …the fourth act dropped the bomb shell that they couldn’t make it any longer. …I suddenly had an eager audience and a large gap to fill.

There is only so long you can give an audience a break before they decided to give up and go home.

Desperate time needed desperate measures, a young man was in the audience who had come along on Friday, he was keen to perform but I could only give him a tiny slot due to the event being so busy . Along with being a poet he also told me that he was a comedian.

My last act was due to perform gentle comedy. bad could he be? I asked him if he would like to perform, he jumped at the opportunity.

I soon had my answer to how bad could he possibly be. The answer, “Very bad ”

Remember the was a literature festival, and it must be said his poetry was very good but…here is the but, his comedy was totally inappropriate . The young man was just starting out in comedy and the basis of his comedy seamed to just be to shock people with things that should never ever ever ever be said!

My hands went up to my face and just stayed there. …

Comedy in DublinĀ

I arrived in Dublin yesterday, it’s packed full of fun things to do and explore but I have noticed it’s not packed full of Irish born people though.

Lots of Americans, Chinese and generally everywhere else in the world apart from Ireland itself.

But we did find where they were hiding later in the evening, in a tiny room in a back street bar doing comedy. ..and they were very funny too šŸ˜„

Comedy and Music and Laughter YogaĀ

Yes, this is how I am spending my evening.

I run laughter Yoga sessions, I don’t do just any laughter Yoga, I do impro laughter Yoga with a cajon in toe.  This evening we went on an adventure in  jungle. .huge fun

Now I am currently at a comedy fundraiser I have organised. .the Midlands local comics are a wonderful bunch of people who always generously give up their time.  ..

Live photo update. .and back to the comedy. ….

Times Are ChangingĀ

Where are you now, you may ask.

In a library would be my reply. that’s a great library, being able to lend books out at gone 9pm.

No, I would reply, I am at a comedy gig. ..times are changing

Comedy in a camper van

When I reflect over my life, there are many many instances of things that are normal to me in my life but may seem a little odd to others.

One such occasion happened 3 years ago today. A camper van turned up outside my home,  I knew of its arrival and had invited guests to get in it. A Edinburgh preview show then took place in the road outside my home.  It must be added this was an unconventional comedy act to say the least!

Controversial Acts

My spoken word events have been running for years now, I have wonderful local talents perform. I try to put on events where everyone is encouraged to perform without judgement.   Ocassionally this includes controversial Acts , last night was one of those.

A brilliant comic performer who spoke about religion and transgender topics, add to that a very drunk member of the audience and a transgender performer. . Let’s just say it was a very eventful 15 minutes …
